Google’s nifty translation tool

As a retail florist, one of the services that we were able to make available to customers was an [tag][/tag] option.

It was a piece of cake for us. All we had to do was take the order. We then called [tag][/tag] or [tag][/tag], and gave the order to their international order department. They would place the order for us, and take care of any translation that was necessary.

But I never really thought I’d have to do any translation myself. Putting up a web site changed that in a hurry. Using a tool like Google Translate, propective customers can translate your web site’s pages from English to ten other languages.

Recently, I was contacted by a prospectiver customer in Mexico, who wanted to send flowers to her boyfriend here in Milwaukee. Her email was written in Spanish. Trouble is, I don’t know the language well, even though I studied it many years ago in high school.

But I simply copied and pasted her email into [tag]Google Translate[/tag], and it quickly converted it into English for me. I then copied and pasted my reply, translated it to Spanish, and sent it. When she placed the order, she thanked me for the quick reply.

Couldn’t have done it without Google Translate. It’s not perfect, but for short emails, it works great for me.
