This past week, I’ve been getting calls at the shop asking about specials on Valentine flowers. People are starting to shop around for the best deals.
If you plan on sending flowers for Valentine’s day, I’ve got an important suggestion…
Order early. You will save more, avoid possible disappointment, and insure timely delivery. Here’s why.
According to statistics from the Society of American Florists,
- Valentine’s Day is the No. 1 holiday for florists.
- Valentine’s Day also ranks first for the most fresh flower purchases.
- In 2011, twenty-three percent of adults purchased flowers or plants as gifts for Valentine’s Day
As you can see, it’s a very busy day for florists.
Even though I strongly encourage you to order early, I don’t think the discounts on Valentine flowers will disappear.
But if you wait until the last minute to order, the flowers you want to send may no longer be available. Substitutions may be necessary. It’s a matter of supply and demand and lower inventories.
Consider having your flowers delivered a day earlier. The demand for delivery on Valentine’s Day is extremely heavy, so many florists offer incentives for early delivery.
Weather can also affect delivery, so allowing your florist a larger window for delivery may save you some aggravation as well as money.
