Calceolaria Plant Care Information
The oval, balloonlike flowers of calceolaria make its common name, "pocketbook plant," quite appropriate.
It is usually available as a spring-flowering plant from mid-February through early April.
Care of the Calceolaria
Calceolarias do best in cool temperatures. For the longest flowering display, locate the plant in a cool room or window where temperatures are near 50 to 55 degrees F at night.
Locate in bright light, but avoid direct sunlight, which can cause the flowers to fade and reduce their life span.
Keep calceolarias well watered at all times with slight drying between waterings. Overwatering can easily damage their fine root system.
Care After Flowering
Calceolarias are annual plants grown from seeds. After flowering, plants gradually decline and cannot be rebloomed successfully. Excessive heat or drying at any time makes them collapse quickly.
