Hibiscus
Hibiscus Plant Care Information

Tropical hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis), prefer sunny, bright light. If the plant is healthy, but not flowering, a move to a sunnier location will help.

Keep the soil moist at all times. Never let the plant wilt.

Hibiscus, indoors or outdoors, do best in warm temperatures, 70-72F (21-22C)during the daytime, 65-70F (18-21C) at night. Do not expose hibiscus to temperatures below 55F (10C).

Fertilize monthly from March-November, with a full-strength 5-10-5 houseplant fertilizer, according to manufacturer's directions. An occasional feeding from December-February will be sufficient.

Hibiscus branches can be pruned to maintain shape, without hurting the plant. Best to prune in the spring.

With its shiny foliage and magnificent flowers, hibiscus are a special addition to any location.

They can be enjoyed indoors or outdoors as patio plants, or anywhere you would like to add a bit of color. Hibiscus bloom continuously for several weeks at a time. The flowers will last one or two days. The plant will rest to regain strength for its next series of flowers. The length of the rest period depends on the time of year, the amount of light, as well as the daytime and nighttime temperatures.
