The Average Wedding Cost in 2018
The average wedding cost is forecast to increase by less than 2% in 2018. It appears smarter budgeting and prioritizing a guest-focused experience have played a big role.
According to The Knot, the average wedding cost nationwide is $33,391. This is based on their survey of 13,000 couples married in 2017.
Here’s a quick video that breaks their survey down by region and categories.
But according to a report from The Wedding Report, the average wedding cost is expected to increase slightly in 2018, from $27,630 last year to $28,020 this year, based on their survey results.
This is more in line with what I’ve been hearing from other wedding professionals I’ve talked to, as well as several media reports published recently.
But wedding costs have not increased because vendors have raised prices. It’s been mainly due to couples prioritizing their budgets when considering options for their wedding.
While the cost per guest has increased, the number of guests that couples are choosing to invite has decreased. This is attributed to smaller, less formal ceremonies and receptions, and a stronger focus on amenities for the guests.
